APM Planner 2.0.14 on Linux memory usage seems a bit high ...

I recently installed and got to work APM Planner 2.0.14 on OpenSuSE 13.1.

When I start apmplanner2 me PC bogs down for about 2 minutes after the initial APM Planner splash screen is shown. It indicates 'Starting User Interface'

The terminal window at that point shows 'setting objectName:  "VIEW_SIMULATOR"'

If I check my task manager I see at this point that apmplanner is using around 1.5GB of RAM.

Why does it need so much RAM? Is that normal?

    I fixed it by removing ~/apmplanner2 directory.

    I tried starting apmplanner2 as root and the memory usage is only 50MB.
