This is a NewB question and , yes, I have searched Google and these forums for answers.
I would like to:
- Communicate with my Killjoy Ground Station
- View live first person video (FPV) with telemetry overlay (not neccesarily through Googles)
- Record good quality video.(Not neccesarily HD)
I have
- Hitec Eclipse7 72Mhz radio but am prepared to buy a 2.4Ghz if I have to.
- APM
- Laptop with KGS installed and currently comminicating to APM via USB
I know I need (and here is where I need your help). Remember I have no frequency constraints (or do I? I live in Australia):
- Two XBees :- which one 900Mhz or 2.4Ghz. (This site says 2.4Ghz will work with 72Mhz radio but does not say whether it 900Mhz will work with 72Mhz radio)
- A camera (or 2? one for live streaming, one for quality?).
- I see GoPro can do both streaming and recording simyltaneously. Is this a good option?
- CMOS and CCTV. What are they? How does each connect to the transmitter, or are they mutually exclusive?
- A means of streaming the live video:- Please confirm this cannot be done via XBee.
- Based on the suggestion for Radio and Xbee. What frequency and model for video transmission?
- Telemetry overlay on all video (live for live stream. Dont mind mixing off log for HD). I want to take advantage of telemetry on APM; don't want stand alone unit. What works? What to watch? is the HK unit any good?
Replies
2) Cameras like the Sony Bloggie and GoPro can do both. Both are good
3) ??
4) Confirmed. Cannot be done by Xbee
5) See frequencies guidelines here: http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/some-guidelines-on-picking
6) Why? Just use Xbee/GCS for telemetry. Much better than video overlay.
