I have just purchased a APM2.5 and have installed the Arducopter firmware. Everything is calibrated correctly in the Mission Planner including my Spektrum DX8 which i have calibrated at least 10 times. However, i still can't get the ESCs to arm when pulling throttle down and to the right for 4 seconds.

My system is set up like this:

APM2.5 board with Arducopter 2.9.1
Board powered by BEC on the output side of the board
Jumper plug installed to provide power to the input side of the board and receiver
DJI Opto 30A ESCs (the ones which can't be calibrated)

Problem: When the board is powered up from the Quad's Lipo (which also provides power to the ESCs via the distribution board), i get the musical few beeps from the ESCs indicating everything is ready, the lights flash blue and red on the AMP, the blue LED then goes solid after a few seconds leaving the red light slowly flashing. I SHOULD now be able to pull down and right on the throttle to arm the ESCs - but absolutely nothing happens and the red light continues flashing.

What i've tried: Re-calibrating the radio time and time again. Adjusting trims to make sure the 'throttle down and right' sequence is being triggered. Tried using the both USB and the quad's Lipo to power the board, makes no difference. Tried powering the board from both input side and output side. Even tried the ESC calibration procedure despite the DJI ESCs not being programmable.

I'm getting really frustrated and would welcome any other pointers before the thing gets thrown out of the window.

Thanks in advance.

  • Have you tried holding the throttle down and to the left?
