APM2.6 - 4 double red LED flashes then nothing?

Hi,

I recently purchased my second APM Ardupilot 2.6 unit. But there is a problem!

When powering on the board the red LED (where the Red, Blue, Orange Status LED's are near the PM port) flashed 4 sets of two rapid flashes and the unit stops.

NOTE - I've managed to upload a video from my ipad showing the problem in action

When linking with mission planner, the connection is initially fine, i get about half way through reading the parameters before it freezes.

If i plug my miniOSD in, i get a connection up until the power on 4 red LED pulses finishes and then the OSD switches from displaying the OSD data to 'No heartbeat detected'

The Module can be flashed with different Ardu copter, plan, etc using mission planner and the EEPROM is erased during this process. I also get the flash verified okay messages.

In short, the coms to PC is no problem. It seems like the unit is performing a power on self test of some kind and i'm guessing flashing out a sequence to represent an error code before freezing.

How can i find out whats wrong? is there a was of using the mission planner terminal function to do some self diagnostics and find the problem? Does anybody out there know what the 4 sets of 2 pulses represents?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Chris

  • Please help? does anybody know the answer to this?

    • For info and anybody else with this problem. Turned out to be the 3.3v regulator that was fried so the MPU6000 and EEPROM were not being powered.

Fixed with some fine soldering and a replacement 3.3v regulator IC.

      • Hi, Chris,

What is the regulator you used for replacement? I tried some pieces of TPS79133, every piece turned out to be dead after soldering. I guess it is becuse of too high temperature.

        Best.
