APM2 ESC BEC doesn't power up the board

OK, I got my shiny new APM2 purple board on Tuesday.  I powered it up with the microUSB cable, installed 2.1a and everything checks out.  Easiest Out-Of-Box experience ever.  I can't find Arducopter APM2 docs yet, but I found the ArduPlane wiki now has an APM2 section, close enough.

Attached my ESC, minding polarity to the outputs, but I can't power up the board.  I checked the ESC, I have 5v out, then I tried a spare ESC, same thing.  The APM2 shows 5v with the correct polarity on the output rail, so there must be a missing jumper somewhere.

But I can't find any jumper info yet...

  • OK, found it.  Poking around with the DVM a little, J1 needs to be jumpered if the ESC BEC is going to power the board.

I know the documentation is a little lean at this point, but for $199 it would be nice to at least throw in the jumper itself so the board can be used "as shipped". Gotta find one of those small a$$ jumpers now...

You're ahead of me! I haven't finished that part of the manual yet ;-)
