I would suggest, possibly that maybe a good place to start would be the Ardupilot home page (see top of this page) under Ardupilot then select manual.......
The code is in the repository..... if you .....erm.....RT*M.....as we say here (my company, not DIY neccessarily) you will find all the info you could ever wish for...and what isnt in the manual is mostly common sence or in the forums,,,,
