Arducopter Battery failsafe, without a sensor?

Really newbie related question here;

The battery failsafe is enabled by default. This is detectable by the apm/hkpilot boards WITHOUT the need of extra sensors, right?

Eg, if the failsafe is enabled, and no external sensors are present, would the failsafe instantly kick in because it has no idea?

  • It doesn't work without the sensor. The power feed to the APM is via a voltage regulator that provides 5v regardless how discharged the battery is.

    So it files until it runs out of power, then falls out of the sky.

    The cheap solution is one of these:

    • Thanks Alan! That's how I thought it was.

      I've got one of those alarms on the way now too ha. Can't say no to cheap little extras like that. £1.23 & free shipping from China, how they can make and ship something that cheap is beyond me.

      • Are you in the UK too?

        It would cost us 92p to send it within the UK, + the envelope cost - never mind all the way to China. And that's before you add the cost of the item!
