Well, I'm using the EM406 GPS module with the ardupilot and no shield.
I've uploaded my ardupilot code with the correct header configuration, shield tpye -1 and gps protocol os 1 for SIRF.
If I only upload the ardupilot code without configuring waypoints, the gps module finds a satelittle and the blue LED locks fairly quickly.
Once I upload the waypoints via configuration tool and try to get the gps to lock again, the blue LED simply stays OFF. no blinking what-so-ever.
Has anybody experienced this problem?
Also, I may try to manually load the waypoints with the waypointwriter.pde but I don't really know how to use in...do I just call it out in the main code to include the file after I type my lat/long coordinates in it?

After trying to use the em406_tester:
Okay, here's what's happening. even with the EM406 tester i have the same problem. (the RAW_tester worked flawlessly, though!)
Step by step:
I upload the code, and the GPS led blinks rapidly. The ftdi cable is still plugged in. Without doing ANYTHING else, I plug my GPS module in, and the blue led goes dark, and the serial monitor reads from repeating "no valid fix" to repeating "init gps" (or "gps init" I forget).
I've tried unplugging the ftdi cable first and then the gps module and replugging in the ftdi cable, all sort of stuff, even without the ftdi cable at all.
The bottom line------
Without the em406 plugged in, i get a blue led that blinks rapidly with life. Once the em406 gets plugged in the led immediately stops blinking. Is this normal? Should I just leave the em406 out and hopefully it will get a lock?

Also, i'm not using a flight mode setup yet, I've just been trying to get the gps to work. Do I need to install a toggle switch and force it into a specific mode?
