Ardupilot on PX4 + IO won't arm motors.

Hello,

I've been lurking for a while, but this is my first post.  I've been trying to setup a PX4 on a quadrotor for a couple of days now and I'm a bit stumped.  Basically, I've been able to get pretty much everything working (besides the 3dr radio - but that's another story) except I can't seem to get the ESCs to arm.

I've got RCtimer SimonK 30A optos in there.  I've manually calibrated them and can get them to run when I plug them into the receiver throttle output.  I've calibrated the radio inside APM and everything looks like it's working properly there.  I've run the radio and motors command in CLI and still no luck.  When I go to arm the system, I can get APM to show "armed", however this doesn't seem to actually change anything on the copter itself.  There's no change in the lights and there's no beep.  It also seems like the physical arming button they give you with the px4 io doesn't really do anything (besides load it into firmware update mode).  At this point, it seems like the PX4 just doesn't want to communicate with the ESCs.  Does anyone have any thoughts on what I might try to fix this?

A bit more info:

The automatic calibration doesn't seem to work with these ESCs.  The receiver/transmitter is a Futaba 8fg Super with 6208s receiver.  I've got it connected via S-Bus, however I have the PPM-sum encoder if people think that might work better.  It just seems that I'm not having trouble receiving radio commands at the moment.

Thanks so much for any suggestions you all might provide.

Cheers,

Stephen

  • Hi I have the same problem Mystery 30A ESC's ...

You Might explain "load up the firmware ArduCopter" Bootload firmware?

System works without problem, arm and disarm perfectly.

    Safety Switch OK.

    Calibration OK, ENGINES TURN.

Connect and disconnect battery and ESC sounds uncalibrated, not save settings.
