Ok, So I've finally got off the old hind-end and started working on the AP portion of my project. I have the ArduPilot with shield setup and have used the Ardu Pilot Config Tool to successfully load and save missions. I completed all of the built in tests.Everything but simulation is working. I have a couple of questions for the experts...1. Built-in GPS simulator (debug mode)I can see stuff using the serial monitor in Arduino, but I've not been able to see the mission it is supposed to be dreaming of flying. Some lat/long seem close, but others are way WAY out... I don't have any telemetry equipment setup right now, will the HK GCS still see the return from the built in GPS simulator?2. XPlane and full Hardware in the Loop Simulator (X-Plane 9 Demo)Not sure what's wrong. Seem to have completed all the setup but simulator does not respond to my transmitter, no go no nada. The ArdupilotSim.exe program is up and running and I see an error in WP1 at startup, then data...3. Just how important is the act of getting the simulators to work? I understand the warm and fuzzy aspect that it gives by knowing that stuff is talking/working in the simulator, but if all the Test Programs check out is it safe to assume that one could go and test the "STABILIZE" mode and then other modes?Any insight is appreciated.Brian

Don't worry about simulation. If the test modes work and when you take it to the field and try tilting on the ground in stabilize mode and all the control surfaces do what they should, you should be fine.
But we need to move you to APM pretty soon. The original ArduPilot is heading towards end-of-life...
