I have purchased some ArduPilotMega 1.4 and IMU shield.
I tried different methods, different cables, I purchased FTDI R232 cable and also FTDI USB A to Mini B for IMU shield.
I soldered IMU shield to ArduPilotMega 1.4 and tried to program ArduPilotMega.pde using Arduino 0023 to ArduPilotMega 1.4 board using:
a) USB connection to IMU shield using USB A to mini B cable (FTDI)
b) Direct FTDI cable connection to FTDI part (green to black 6 cables) of ArduPilotMega 1.4 board.
I didn't used any external power, just USB. I set RTS reset stuff on device manager, I tried Mac OS X, Linux Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows.
On Mac and Ubuntu I get programmer is not responding and in Windows I get sync error while programming.
I cannot get ArduPilotMega working, please advice! It's really frustrating, I'm going to hate ArduPilotMega boards...

Do I have to use an external battery like 12V or 9V battery for ArduPilotMega 1.4 in addition to USB cable for programming it via Arduino?
