ATL flies away, ALT HOLD flies away?

So yea, as the title says, anything GPS related is not working

RTL is just flying away and so it ALT HOLD, i noticed it was getting a GPS lock very fast after power up, like 2 flashes and there was a GPS lock.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

  • So, just an update. Got the uBlox GPS and have not had an issue since.
4/4 rtf flights and great position hold.
  • Doug, thanks for your reply.

However after reading more on this issue, i see this is not a new one at all. I dont think it is the power interfering (mind you still pays to give it some distance) but i have found many posts of this and am still reading (eyes are getting saw).

This is scary, i want to know when i hit RTL, it does exactly that, returns to launch.

Right now i cannot trust this, having said that ive had this exact GPS unit return to the same position within half a meter of the lock.

Im really worried now, i always said with all mu issues ive been having atleast i could hit RTl and all is good. But not anymore

Ill do somemore reading and testing tommorow.

Right now i need sleep or ill never rise for work....HAHA

Thanks for your help as usual..

  • Do not limit yourself to the area of the CF plates. You can always add more plate on top of what you have to allow for better layout/access.

For instance, in my blog post HERE, I added an extension to a standard (at the time) 3DR size stack plate. What this did was to allow the diversity receiver components proper orientation and kept them free from unintended contact.

    Build on!

  • From what I have read previously, there are base altitude values for many modes that can give the appearance of a fly-away.

Look THIS over...  set a Max Altitude (and enable it). Bear in mind the calibrations needed to move into this realm. They can change with software release.

I am thinking if the Max Alt is set and enabled, even in Stabilized mode it will function. In truth, I have yet to mess around with any mode other than Stabilized. My desire is to gain flight experience so that the aircraft attributes familiar to me.

    Good luck!
