  • Well its been a busy 2 weeks. we have a Solid works design, most of our parts and a CNC machine ready to make our mold. I attached a pics. Were going to make the body out of G10 fiberglass sheets. Were using a trackuino for real time telemetry and a communiations specialist radio tracker for hunting if we lose it. The goal obviously is to not lose it. Any other info you would like just ask!

  • What's the downside to giving it a bigger wingspan? Or maybe the wings could pop out once it's falling to give it more stability with less drag on the way up.

  • Paul Mather,

Very good observation, in fact early testing (no stabalization system) has showed extreme desire to roll, The APM has channel mixing for elevon control though and i believe that with no motor torqueing it and a constant elevon control from APM it should stabalize. Anyone have further thought/experience? it would be greatly appreciated

  • That design doesn't have much wingspan. It's going to want to roll very easily. I wonder if anyone's done testing in stabilize or Fly By Wire to see if the APM will make a tiny wingspan plane flyable.
  • We attempted to purchase the GPS boomerang but it is not available currently. As for the altitude the plan is to fall from our max altitude until about 40,000 feet, then begin to aim in the desired direction for landing

Should work, this is the one that largely inspired me to start this whole AP adventure

and this is the only commercial system I know of  http://www.gpsboomerang.com/

    Good luck with your project.
