Automated Flight Issues - APM2 ArduCopter

Hi all,

I have made several automated flight attempts without success.

The copter performs as expected in other flight modes (Stabilize, RTL, Loiter, Alt_Hold).

When I switch into Auto Mode, the copter usually begins yawing and seems to follow the programmed waypoints very poorly, if at all. When I switch out of Auto Mode, the reference plane for the controls continuously resets itself. (Simple mode is no longer so simple as the controls continuously reverse and rotate)

I am flying the stock 3DR frame with APM2 and Arducopter 2.1 pushed from MP 1.1.20.

Compass is enable and declination is set.

The only parameter I changed is NAV WP --> 1.5 m/s (so the copter can't travel so far when it goes out of control)

Here is my latest flight log and mission.

log: 2012-01-13%2001-00-59.tlog

Mission: jan13.txt

It was about 4 degrees celsius and 8 km/h winds. Automated flight begins at 65%

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Thanks for the response.

I will patiently wait for the recommended configs.

Please update your firmware to ArduCopter 2.2 in the Mission Planner. We have not yet released a PID configuration file for APM2, so you will have to tune it yourself (the default code is set up for APM1). Or wait a week or so for us to release recommended configs.
