Bixler Wings

Do I need to glue the wings to the bixler? I feel like it would be easier not only for transportation if I don't, but also when the plane eventually crashes and I need to buy new wings. Thanks!

  • There are various methods for holding the wings in place. There is very little force pulling them apart, it's only if one wing slips right out of the socket that you instantly get a major problem.

My chosen method is to put sticky velcro on the inner edges of the wings where they meet. This is strong enough that they won't come apart during flight and after a 'hard landing' I just push them back in place.

Another popular method is to stick the smallest 3M picture hooks (usually 2 pairs) on the under sides of the wings and stretch a rubber band through the fuselage between each pair of hooks. This works well except the rubber bands degrade and must be replaced.

You can also just sticky tape them together across the top of the fuselage.
