Boat Loiter mode using Pixhawk

Hello. First post on DIY Drones!

I have some experience using a Pixhwak on a quadcopter but now I want to get into a different kind of project.

My goal is to get a boat to stay in a given position in a stream. Basically what is called "Loiter Mode" on a quadcopter, but using a boat.

Does anyone know if this is even possible? I imagine that I'll need to use the Rover firmware on my Pixhawk to begin with, but what mode is avaliable on the Rover firmware for this purpose? Will this work better on a typical prop/rudder setup or on 2 props/no rudder?

Any thoughts are welcome!

Thanks

  • Sure it's possible, once there were a project named ArduBoat, try searching for it, I think it died due to low interest, but ArduRover should be very close match too
    • Hi Andre,

Yes, I searched for the Arduboat project and got some info, but unless I am looking at the wrong place it looks like this mode is not readily available. I am sure that the hardware is capable, though so I guess I need to find someone who could do the programming side of it. Any idea on how I would go about it?
