Can I use the ArduPilot Mega as an Arducopter?

I guess it's the same board, but just wanted to be sure. When I was ordering it online, I had the option to choose a configuration (at udrones): fixed wing or quad. I chose quad. I added a 2 way telemetry kit (xbee), a magnetometer and an ublox GPS.

 

So, If I follow the instructions for the ArduCopter as opposed to the Ardupilot Mega (which seems to be more for fixed wing aircrafts) I won't burn anything or have the wrong code?? And the xbee, GPS and magnetometer should work fine?

    I had a suspicion it was OK, but this is so overwhelming!! Thank you Chris! Now I can sleep in peace.

    I party a lot, and weekends are for going out, but since my board arrived I have only been reading... hehehehe.

    Yes, it's 100% the same hardware. Just different firmware, and you can reload any firmware you want at any time. In other words, you can switch its function from planes to quads to other vehicles just by loading different code in the Mission Planner. Cool, no?
