Google Maps (in a laptop) will cache the last viewed map with detail as fine as viewed. Then you can go to a location with no internet and view the cache (versus the real internet data). This would be a great feature for Mission Planner since sometimes we want to fly where there is no internet (no cell phone either) and would like to set way points on a map.
Is this a current feature or any plans to add the feature?
Other ways to implement may be to just load other forms of map files/data like many GPS hand-helds do.

MP already does this.
