can't install mission planner? can't open msi package?

so i tried downloading the mission planner software for the first time today and when i try to install the .msi file, it tells me that the installation package cannot be opened? i downloaded it directly from:

http://ardupilot.com/downloads/?did=82

the file i got was: MissionPlanner-latest.msi

any advice? i've tried it on Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8 (although i read that 8 will not work).

this is the error i get? i've tried it on my main pc (windows 8), laptop 1 (windows 7), laptop 2 (windows xp), and 2nd pc (windows 7) and they all get this error? can someone else redownload the .msi package as of this post and try it on their pc? i can't imagine all my pc/laptop are broke?

    thank you! this worked great on windows 8. i was then able to just do an in-software upgrade. now onward to furthering my education on this software!

  Confirmed, I get the same error on Windows 7 and Windows XP!

I had no probs on win 8.1
