As it turns out, it is just like all the other commonly available $6 serial over bluetooth links (JY-MCU). Thanks.

If it is like all the others, yes, you can change the name via serial commands. Google HC06 bluetooth serial commands. Use a computer with hyperterminal, set the baud rate correctly, then you can issue commands. It is a little tricky, but you'll know when you got it.
