Can you provide a toutorial on RC TX/RX?

I'm looking ro this community for introductory information on RC transmitters. I have a lot of simple questions.1 the RC controller and the RC transmitter can be separate items correct?By controller I am referring to the box with the switches and sticks, and by transmitter I am referring to the radia part on the back of the controller.2 what are the correct names for these items.3 you can purchase a controll box separate from the TX, correct?4 can you use a PCM, PPM, spread spectrum radia transmitter with the some controller?5 do you have to buy the receiver with the radio, or can you buy them separately? If separately, how do you make sure they will work together?6 what is the the signal that connects the controll box to the radio transmitter?Thank you for your helpRich

  • David, thanks for the reply. I'm still not sure we are talking about the same thing.
Is it correct that the RC system is composed of three separate parts...
Control box - the box with the switches, knobs, and sticks
Transmitter radio - the part that send out the radio signal and is connected to the control box
Receiver - the part on the vehicle that receives the radio signal.

What are the proper names of these parts?
    Can they be purchase separately?
What is the interface signal between the control box and the radio transmitter?
Can you buy a separate (transmitter and receiver set) and connected it to any control box?

    Thanks, rich
  • 1. Buy separate? Yes. (RC controller = RC transmitter)

    2. Transmitter (the module or radio tx) and receiver

    3. If you assume you saying the back small box tx module? Then Yes

    4. Make sure both on same protocol eg: Transmitter DSM2 = Receiver DSM2

    5. Can make sure number (4) is correct protocol and you'll have to go through "BINDING" procedure provided in their respective manufacturer manual.

    6. Radio signal ranging 27~72mhz, 2.4ghz or else 433mhz. Make sure they use the same protocol for 2.4 type.
