Hi
I suspect this is a Windows problem but I have to see if anyone here can help me along.
I had a PC with Win XP that I was using succesfully for this but the MoBo went to Silicon-heaven just as I finished assembling my first Arducopter.
So I started up win7 on my Macbook and loaded the latest APMPlanner. (under WMWare virtual machine)
The problem is that I cannot set the Baud rate of the Com Port. It always falls back to 9600. When I try to access the Advanced settings I get an Error telling me that I have to have write perimission for the registry to access the advanced settings.
I cannot make a connection, both USB direct and via the telemetry kit time out at every attempt. Have tried to set every possible baud rate in the planner. I guess the 9600 rate does not work.
A couple of hours of searching the net ( and DIYDrones of course) only resulted in a few references to the problem but no one seems to know a useful answer. Some extremely complicated Regedit excercises but none on Win7 so I dare not even try.
One suggestion was to scan the computer for malware as that could be the only explanation for an unwanted change of permissions. Hmmm...
Ah... well. My son has a new PC with Win7 so I went there and tried but lo and behold, the same problem.
(I wish there was a MacOSX version of the APM planner. It is so nice to work with that I dont want to go elsewhere)

on win7 try running it as administrator (right click "run as administrator")
