Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

Along with a group of RC interested engineering students and some wilderness search and rescue technology specialists we aim to develop and test affordable UAV systems to support SAR in the barren landscape and harsh environment of Iceland I am one of two "Angel-investors" supporting the project until we can apply for and hopefully get development grants. Two project ideas prevail at the moment: 1. a loitering drone (Arducopter?)for eye-in-the-sky, real time hi-res video downlink to the command center in search operations. 2. a winged autonomous drone for hi-res aero-photography, hopefully with a real time downlink for analysis using the crowd-sourcing principle.

Björn Geir Leifsson replied to Pierre Gibouin's discussion 3DRobotics temporarily stops shipments outside of US and Canada
"Great! Glad not to have to resort to oriental copies of doubtful quality.  Also glad to see Iceland in the list. On-line retailers often give us a hard time by forgetting to include this great (but little) nation in their list of shipping options. "

"There's a sizeable electrolytic capacitor in  ESC's. It looks like a small drum, usually sitting between the feeding wires. From the pictures it looks like this  capacitor burnt up and torched the hole in the fuselage side.
Here's a video that shows…"
