Is there documentation somewhere that explains the common and uncommon source files for arduplane and arducopter. I'm trying to build an Osprey like air-frame. I've finally got the hardware done and I'm now working on the software, and seeing that most of the autopilot code is written in these two projects I'd like to combine them instead of rewriting a bunch of it. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I am looking for something along the same lines.
I was thinking about writing a transition code from copter to plane and back.
Basically, flip a switch on the remote and this will start the transition code which will control the unit during the switch period.
As to the libraries, just copy them to a different location and windoze will tell you which filenames are the same at which point you can compare the originals.
Travis,
I do work on the same. I'm close on finishing my (first) tri-hardware including pre arrangement for tilting the two forward props. Currently I've to get rid of some high vibrations and too much weight. I just had a little time to read me into the code, but as you, I think a combination of the codes (AP/AC) could help to increase development time dramatically.
But to be honest, right now I'm still a mile away on starting with the code. I hope to get the tri this week in air (without transformation).
