Conflicting radio frequencies

If I use xbee telemetry at 900 Mhz.
Can I, or is it possible to use a multi channel 900Mhz Video Tx/Rx system along side it without conflict?

As the video has numerous channels I should be able to find one that doesn't interfere with the telemetry, shouldn't I?

  • A 900 MHz video transmitter, which is narrow band FM transmitter, will essentially increase for noise floor for the Xbee.

Generally speaking, narrow band radios (video, walkie-talkies, ect) will be more affected by a 900 MHz FHSS radio (Xbee) than the Xbee would be by a narrow band radio. all things being equal..

However, since the video TX is in close proximity to the air-side Xbee than the GCS Xbee, things are not equal...
so there could be a lot of lost data packets for the air-side receiving Xbee when the CGS seems to be receiving telemetry without trouble.

A higher gain antenna on the video RX would allow one to avoid using a high power video TX, of course the antenna will be more directional and would probably require an antenna tracker.

There are low pass noise filters for video transmitters, placed between the tx & antenna. to reduce harmonic noise.

I have not used the filters however.
I also have not yet tried video TX on a RC plane yet.
Also keep the two radios' antennas on the aircraft as far apart as possible, and away from the RC receiver as well.
A separate battery for the video TX can help to reduce the noise levels too.

You can, but it's not recommended.
