I have a Quanum Q-2D brushless gimbal on a quad with Pixhawk controller. This is the first time I have used a gimbal. I was unable to make the Pixhawk to Gimbal connection work using the Aux outputs of the Pixhawk connected to the pitch and roll inputs of the gimbal controller. So I connected the appropriate receiver outputs directly to the gimbal controller and it works nicely.
Is there any advantage to connecting a 2D brushless gimbal with its own controller to the Pixhawk versus connecting to the receiver? I don't think so but would like to hear from more expert gimbal users.
