Connecting it all up - which way around?

A new plane, a new APM, but the same problem.

I've spent 45 minutes trying to guess the correct way to plug in the wires.

Looking at the diagram for APM 1.4 and above: http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/wiki/RC and the picture just below, I can't figure out which way I should connect my THOTTLE / APM / ESC ? Should the black wire, negative, be on the bottom (red) of the APM, like in the picture?

I know it also depends on your receiver, I have a Spektrum AR8000.

Any guidelines as how to debug this?

Thanks!

  • the ground is the row of pins closest to the edge of the board. So those get the black.

I plugged out all the servos and rx channels, except throttle (IN 3) and esc (OUT 3) and tested. Turns out the black (-) should be on the bottom (red) part of the APM for both IN and OUT, and on the writing side of the rx. This is just for the throttle / esc. Hope this helps somebody.
