controlling a ducted fan using APM 2.5 Mega

Is there any place where i can look for instructions to control a ducted fan or a propeller using ESC with the help of APM 2.5 Mega wirelessly ? i bought http://store.3drobotics.com/products/apm-2-5-kit with GPS and telemetry kit. Mission planner program that we can download is too complicated to understand and it is tailored only for copter, plane and rover. I don't need to fly now. I just need to control a brushless motor using wireless kit via computer. Not by using any hand held device.

You might wanna ask i can do this from any arduino, why would i need APM 2.5 + ? Well, first i need to control a single ducted fan or propeller and then later fly.

Is there any minor tweaking to any of the copter, plane or rover file that will suit my needs ? Or do i need to completely write my own program ?

If i have to write my own code, where is the best place to start or look for hints ?

Suggestions will be appreciated.

  • If you want the fan to spin up on the ground you should be able to automate this through the python scripting in Mission Planner. There is an example on the wiki of automating a roll so you should be able to work something out from there?

    Hi

Ducted fan is no different than a plane( it just the propulsion unit) if you are using it in a plane then use plane version of settings for APM,

"it is tailored only for copter, plane and rover"    >  use plane.

    good Luck
