A while back Mission Planner gave a percent usage for the battery that I assumed was based off the current data. More recently that display has switched to the live current data. Is there a setting in Mission Planner to go back to that previous percentage or ideally to show the cumulative current usage? Ideally the low battery warning should trigger from either a low voltage and/or when the cumulative current usage passes the 80% of capacity mark.

If you right-click on the hud screen & select "user items".
There is a check box named 'Battery_remaining'.
It's not as nice looking as the previous battery charge display.
