hey folks.
Currently i am using a DIY from made out of 3/4 inch square aluminum tubing. i am reasonably happy with it but i fell that over all it is to heavy and i am exploring alternative ideas. i found a site that sells acrylic square tubing in various sizes and i was thinking about attempting to make a circular frame from this material. i am a long way from a completed plan but i wanted to ask if this sounds completely crazy or has anyone else thought about or done this before?
Cheers all!

Why not use lighter aluminium (magnesium alloy like used for bicycles frames). ?
You could use carbon fiber but would be quite expensive. carbon fiber is about two times less strong than aluminium for same thickness. But is is really lighter.
Acrylic seems not rigid enough.
