I do not have a separate controller and separate RX unit to put onto the input pins of the APM. Does this mean I will not be able to use it? This setup has been giving me alot of trouble during setup and I am wondering if this is why. I am unable to check the direction of my motors through the CLI interface. Actually I am not even sure if I have been able to pull up that interface. But I digress. If I do have to have one, which one would be best for someone new in the field? If I don't have to have one, am I still going to be able to fly it manually instead of like a drone? How would I achieve this?

I am new at this (which is probably blatantly obvious) and would love as much help as possible.
