EKF_ALT_NOISE and Laser rangefinder

Hi, the parameter EKF_ALT_NOISE is defined as:

"EKF_ALT_NOISE: Default is “1.0”. Lower number reduces reliance on accelerometers, increases reliance on barometer."

Now what if I use a laser rangefinder for altitude control in Alt Hold? 

Does lowering EKF_ALT_NOISE then also increase reliance on the laser rangefinder?
