Hi!
I'm looking to build a UAV with a payload of around 100 kg of water. I'm guessing I'll need an engine of around 35-50 bhp. Got any ideas about the engine? Also, should I use a puller or a pusher prop? My engine budget is somewhere around 1000 USD :(
Thanks

im going for a similar idea but with less of a payload, only around 15-20kg. ill be using 4 400mm EDF's powered from a micro turbine/generator set. for something like yours i would also go with ducted fans if you want VTOL capabilities but if you are going for a traditional winged design an old BMW morotcycle engine would do good (and found pretty cheap). you'll get up to 90HP or so and it is a shaft driven engine perfect for mounting props. for the props id go for variable pitch pullers if you can rig it up.
something like this would do nicely and is very similar to what powers the RQ-1...
