Firmware update question

So used mission planner to update the firmware on my 3DR 915 radio and I bumped it to 1.6 on my laptop side but when I click the button to transfer to the remote the firmware doesn't update, its still at one 1.5 do I need to update this firmware and if so how Would I go about doing it? I do have 3dr FTDI cable for re-flashing the GPS is what I just use that? And any idea what the pinout would be

The TTL FTDI cable just plugs straight into the 3DR radio, and you can then reflash it. You cannot do it over-the-air. See http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/wiki/3DRadio
