First mission... Not the results I expected...

3690955244?profile=originalSo I flew this mission today. Lifted off, trimmed up the copter, and hit auto.

What it appeared to do to me, was go to waypoint 4, then waypoint 3, then land.

Is this because the mission course is to small? It is possible, it went to waypoint 1, then 2, figured it was close enough to 3 and 4 and just landed I supposed. I don't know. I have no experience.

Problem 2:

When the copter "landed", it slowly floated down until it touched the ground, then it lightly bounced two or three times until it snagged something and tipped over. I let it run (until it tipped) because I was not sure if it would cut the motors on it's own, or take off and come back to "home" or what.

When it tipped, I quickly went back to "Stable" mode and disarmed. No harm done it seems. So, why was it bouncing instead of just landing?

  • So I tried this again with a new mission. (30 meter waypoints now).

The copter flew like a dream.

I hit "Auto" and it went to waypoint 1, then waypoint 2, then it stopped and hung there.

Nice and stable. Maybe I missed it, but I expected it to do two 360's or orbits, then go on to waypoint 3, then home.

But it didn't. I let it hang there as long as I could stand it. Seemed like forever, but was probably only a minute, then I hit RTL and it came home perfectly.

So how do I troubleshoot this? It seems my Xcopter will only do two waypoints. I'm going to try to figure out how to get logs out of it, though from what I've seem so far, they won't mean much to me. *sigh*

Yeah, you want the default 3 meter radius for missions.

Landing is hard. bring the quad down is easy, but the last foot is tricky due to ground effect and the fact that the difference between a neutrally buoyant quad (hovering) and a falling quad is incredibly slight.

If we could trust our baro and land at exactly 0m (and not on even a slight hill)  it would be easier.

    Sonar helps a lot here.

Our Accels could be used, but someone needs to write and test that code.
