Bill Patterson replied to Robert Merki's discussion Tell me what pains you about drones/UAVs. (VENT AT ME)
"CMOS Cameras suck. We need a 1080p or 4k WDR camera with a global shutter the size of a mobius and for $50.

FPV POD (250 Mini Quads) Racing is hampered by lousy video.
If you stick to legal 5.8g frequencies you can only race 4 people at once.…"

Bill Patterson replied to AerospaceVlogger's discussion Supersonic, I'm going to do it.
"There's no way a $8 plastic rotor is going to withstand a 700 mph airstream. Even if the blades didn't fold back and break off, the RPM needed to travel through the air at that speed would explode the rotor.

Bill Patterson commented on Nathan DuCray's blog post FAA posts Do's and Don't of Model Aircraft
"How many have been killed by pigeons Dr Smarty pants? They weight 350 grams.

Bill Patterson commented on Nathan DuCray's blog post FAA posts Do's and Don't of Model Aircraft
"Well the hell do you get these ideas from?
You can buy an a.c. recharge kit in Wal-Mart.

And no it's not part of the NAS. That's the whole point."

Bill Patterson commented on Nathan DuCray's blog post FAA posts Do's and Don't of Model Aircraft
"Dr. Marty, I'm quite sure the concept of commercial has mutated from its original intent. While originally it was applicable when all aircraft carried people, it's completely mis applied when there are no safety issues what so ever.

For example I…"

Bill Patterson commented on Chris Anderson's blog post FAA issues notice clarifying legal model aircraft use, bans FPV goggles?
"It occurs to be today that this "outlaws" all US based manufacturing of any RC aircraft. It's illegal to test them.

Not that this is a valid decree though."

"How is this news?
Would she call cops if the person on the balcony across the street was looking in her general direction with binoculars? And if she did, would it be news?"

"Any one else notice the subtle change in the syntax.

They are changing from "expect" and "should" to "must" and "shall".

This difference is actually quite important."
