Hello all,

I'm working with an APM 2.0 board and have a question regarding the onboard compass.

As far as I am aware, the onboard compass is located on the 'shield' of the APM 2.0 board. However, even when I remove this shield I still see my direction in the 'flight data' window adjusting (yaw) as I rotate the APM board (I know roll and pitch originate from the accelerometer).

How is this possible?

  • Yaw is computed with the output from both the accel and compass. If the compass is removed, one clue will be that it always starts up with heading 0.
