Flight Modes not working?

Hello!

I am working on a HIL simulation in X-Plane 9 with an ArduPilot Mega v1.4, a JR XP662 remote controller and receiver, Mission Planner 1.0.86, and modified parameters/firmware from a friend who has gotten the simulation to work consistently without fail. The parameters are specified for the PT-60 HIL simulation, and are attached. I uploaded the parameter file through Arduino 0022 The ArduPilot is connected to my laptop (windows 7) via USB. My goal is to have the PT-60 autonomously fly a set of waypoints.

The remote controller only has two flight mode switches, so I always have one set on manual, and the other I have set on either stabilize or auto. The PT-60 flies like a dream in manual mode, however, as soon as I switch to any other mode (specifically stabilize or auto) the plane nose dives, flips onto its back, and then goes crazy and crashes...for lack of a better description...

I have tried using the most recent versions of code and software (including Arduino) to no avail, and I've experimented with reversing the servos on both the mission planner, remote controller, and ArduPilot DIP switches. Any suggestions?

Attached is the parameter/firmware file and a screen shot of the resulting Pids.

Thank you so much!

Blue Skies,

Piper

  • Piper, did you get fixed yet ?.

If the plane rolls over when you change to stabilize then you need to reverse the roll servo using the reverse options at the top of the simulation configuration page on mission planner. If this corrects the roll so that the plane flies ok in stabilize then when you change back to manual mode the plane will roll so you need to go to your transmitter and reverse the roll channel to correct this.

If it flies ok in stabilize it will be set up for auto mode too.

  • Hi,

I've got a simmilar problem. I'm using the latest firmware 2.72 HIL on my APM 2.5 together with FlightGear. The MissionPlanner is version 1.2.48

With the older firmware 2.68 I was able to make perfect flights in the simulator and fly in all modes. What happens now is that the plane shows almost no reaction in stabilize for a few seconds and then turns into a descend. Same thing happens in Auto mode. There are no problems in Manual mode.

I'm using the Rascal model for which I already have my PID values.

    Thanks!

    Martin
