I have flown my ArduPhantom in the rain many times. The only place rain drops can get in directly is the very small vent slots around each ESC. The ESC boards appear to be coated with a lacquer coating that I assume is for moisture resistance.
Did you ever find any documentation or have any discussion with anybody on flying a DJI Phantom in the rain, or did you identify any models of multi-rotor drones that are designed to fly in the rain and are water tight? Thanks.
