I own a Nexus 5 smartphone and recently picked up a Google Cardboard set from Dodo Case in the USA (dodocase).

I have to say I am blown away with the quality of the image and the immersive effect.  It is simply another world away from Fatsharks in terms of image quality.  You have to try Google Earth with them on - and it only cost $25.

If anyone has a method of getting the video feed from my receiver displayed onto the screen of my android phone I'd love to hear about it.

I understand that image resolution will not take advantage  of the 1080x1920 resolution available but the viewable area seems huge compared with Fatsharks and DJI already have HD air to ground with their Lightbridge so it won't be long before we can all utilise our phone and tablet screens to their fullest.

I would highly reccomend you try Cardboard if you have a compatible android smartphone.

Any help with patching my vrx to my Nexus 5 would be appreciated.

  • Sounds really interesting. For getting your analog video into your smartphone, you could use this, which has already been discussed here.
