Gimbal Servo Control Horn Question

I have been putting together a quadcopter for the past few months and managed a few good flights (and a few nervy crashes!).

(link, if the iFrame doesn't work - youtube.com/watch?v=4H5cl_XGTTM)

For Christmas my wife bought me some more bits to add a gimbal underneath for supporting my GoPro for less motionsickness-inducing video.

The parts I got are from QuadFrame.com, specifically:

http://quadframe.com/collections/legs/products/155mmll (legs)

http://quadframe.com/collections/cm/products/g01k (gimbal)

http://quadframe.com/collections/cm/products/emax-es08md-servo (2x servos)

I've assembled the parts but do not seem to be able to get the servos to connect up well.

The problem I have is that the supplied plastic servo arms do not seem right for the gimbal ball joints.

Has any one successfully assembled the Gimbal from these guys and if so, how did you solve the problem with the servo connectors?

  • Horns drilled and the rest of the frame assembled.  Ready for a test flight tomorrow!  Thanks for the help guys.

  • I have the same gimbal and drilled out the holes on the horns to be a little bigger. Simply turning a drill bit (without a power drill) in the hole by hand is enough to cut through the plastic.

  • I have always used a pinvise and drilled out the holes needed on servo arms.
