GoPro Hero 2 with Wifi BacPac

The GoPro Hero 2 comes soon with wifi bacpac option. Wonder if there is any worth trying the wifi live view option to iphone via wifi (2,4 Ghz same as radio!) or will the GoPro wifi-transmitting jam the receiver for the radio?

  • Hmm, suspected someting like that would happen. Thanks anyway guys!

  • But using 2.4 Ghz radio together with a 5.8 Ghz video link should work then? That was my plan b :)

  • My transmitter (Turnigy 9X) also causes major issues on my home wireless network. This is because they are both 2.4Ghz, and the transmitter uses 'spread spectrum'/'frequency hopping' to make sure that nothing on a single channel cause cause you to lose signal. Your WiFi will use 2.4Ghz (802.11b, 802.11g) or 5.8Ghz (802.11a) on a specific sub-channel/frequency range. 802.11n may use will use both 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz for more throughput and better resistance to interference from other devices :P

I agree that the GoPro backpac with WiFi will not work well with 2.4Ghz & 5.8Ghz radios or 2.4Ghz & 5.8Ghz video video transmitters depending on what WiFi network technology it uses.

  • Well my transmitter jams my home Wireless network,  So it is possible that the BacPac will not work with 2.4 GHZ transmitters.  Good thing ther is the 72MHZ band still.  I was trolling one of my girlfriends friends when I figured out that her Iphone would not connect to data when I was setting up the mechanicals of a Heli.  She would start looking at FB, I would flip on the TX she would reboot the iPhone and I would then turn off the TX.  Then after a few minuted I would flip on the TX again.
