I am afraid to try loiter or a programmed auto flight. When I get a GPS lock, the overlay map is at the least 50-ft off, and often several hundred feet, from the actual location. Any tips would be appreciated.
My specs:
ArduCopter HEXA 3DR Frame
Motor AC2836-358, 880Kv
ArduCopter ESC 20 Amp
Propellers: 12X45 EPP Style
XL-MaxSonar-EZ0
Thanks,
Steve

If you let it sit does it narrow down? Often with GPS, the initial lock is pretty far off and refines over time. Are you doing this outside or inside? Inside is going to be spotty at best.
Hello, what do you mean by "overlay map is xxx ft off" ? Points on Google maps are wrong ? misplaced ?
I also noticed i have a small offset on Google maps ( 5 to 10 feets maybe ... ).
If you think your GPS is right but the Google maps is wrong just use the channel 7 to save waypoints you would like to use.
Make a stabilize flight and go to the points you need and save them, even at low altitude.
You will just have to correct the altitude on your waypoints.
Those waypoints will not be set on Google maps but in "real conditions", so you can trust them.
I never tried auto by myself, but in a first try i will try to save some waypoints and see how it is placed on Google maps, using some "in place" reference points to avoid "overlay map" errors.
;)
Which GPS module are you using? Where is it located on your copter?
