Help!! Add a Remote Button On a Joystick??

I would like add a remote button to my joystick, from the existing buttons. Could I just cut the red wire and put a switch and ground it on the white and same with the green??

 

Does anyone know how to do this??

 

And do these wires run on DC or AC?? How many volts do they use?

    It should work, you can do a test pull the plug out and put a short across the pins. To find the negative take a multimeter on continuity and find a common rail, then check all three pins and see which would have a short on it, thats your common.

    Then unplug the cable on the board, and short between that pin and the 2 others and see if it works. I dont see why it wouldnt

    Then just cut that cable in half, leave enough to be able to join onto the plugs again, and put your switches on.
