Help buying an Arducopter flight controller

Hello,

I've spent the last several hours trying to figure out where to purchase a none Chinese knockoff of the Arducopter flight controller.

I've seen references to 3dr but I can't find an Arducopter flight controller on their site and Google searches just lead me to lots of what appear to be knockoffs.

Can someone please point me to a reliable source for an Arducopter flight controller.

I live in the U.S. and would like to purchase from a U.S. seller.

Thanks in advance

  • Gary Scott, if you'd like to purchase a genuine Pixhawk, check out MROBOTICS (Jordi Munoz's company - He was the co-founder of 3DR) @ https://store.mrobotics.io/

If you really want a quality tested product and want to purchase from a company that not only manufacturers but supports their products, going MRobotics is honestly the only way for a genuine Pixhawk. Alternatively, the Pixhawk 2.1 is an EXCELLENT product as well and has significant advantages over the standard Pixhawk including internal vibration dampening for the IMUs.

  • I forgot. Here is where you get your autopilot -- just get a Pixhawk set. https://store.mrobotics.io/category-s/113.htm

The person that runs this great US online store is the co-founder of 3DR. It is my go-to place for quality hardware.

    PixHawk

  • Thanks Marc for the info.

Gary -- they are all made in China as this is open source. The vast majority of hobbyists use a Pixhawk-class FC from Banggood or Hobbyking. They are usually fine. 3DR's version probably is the path of least resistance though.

  • Thanks Simon.

Hi Gary, just to clarify, Arducopter is not a flight controller but rather the name of the software that runs on it.. It is part of the ArduPilot Suite which includes - Arducopter for Multirotors, -Arduplane for fixed wing aircraft, -APMRover for land vehicules and -Antenna Tracker for ...  antenna tracking.

The flight controllers that will run these fine programs are: Pixhawk, Pixhawk2.1, PX4, Pixracer, APM, etc....

You should read the official forums and info pages here to learn all about this very very cool technology:

You are right about trying to avoid Chinese Knock-offs: I had a bad experience with a lemon.. Head over to 3DR or ProfiCNC for the real deal.. Good luck and have fun!!

  • One good choice also, the Pixhawk 2.1

  • Thanks, I just found out that the Arducopter flight controller was replaced by the PixHawk.
  • 3D Robotics

The new 3DR Pixhawk Mini is here. Works great with ArduCopter 3.5
