Help to use 2W alternative telemetry 433MHz

Hi,

I have found a 2w telemetry with rs232 interface for about 55$ from aliexpress.

This is the datasheet (board name: SNR 6202) .

I bought a pair of these cards, but I was not able to use with the APM 2.6.
I tried to communicate the two cards to each other with their RS232-USB adapters, and they worked.
Obviously I set apm and cards with 9600 baud, and I used the UART0 for the test.
anyone has any advice or evidence to suggest?

 Sorry for my bad english.

The help would be greatly appreciated and thank you.

  • Hi, if you're looking for an alternative more powerful and not expensive solution to replace the 3DR radio, have a look at the Ultimate LRS :

    www.itluxembourg.lu/site

It allows 40 km telemetry and costs 57$, works like a charm.

  • 2W is very high power for wireless. Compared to 500mW, the range is not increasing rapidly. SNR6202 adopted old type of RF IC.

Have you tried the LoRa solution? It is much higher sensitivity than SNR6202. Only 100mW can run over 5kilo meters.

I have tried this modules intergrated with APM,

    • Very interesting.. Could you elaborate your experience with APM, MP using the LoRa solution?

      Thanks

    • Good, I did not know LoRa, but where I can buy it?

      • Email to the sales department. There is a contact information in the website.

  • Hi Silvio,

Can you tell me what is the data connector on the bottom of the radio?

Also, I don't suppose we could impose upon you to do a ground range test could we? Just walk/ride/drive it out as far as it will go?

    Thanks man,

    Colin

    • This is the page of the product.

At the moment I managed to make them work with a converter TTL - RS232.

I attach two images where I analyzed the telemetry 2w and the original one. Telemetry 2W got 33dBm, exactly as it should be, so I am hopeful that at least 3 km.

      • Neat!  Don't forget to update us.

        • Sure, soon I will experiment with an hexa

  • If it helps, I connected the cards as in the attached diagram.
