Hitec Eclipse 7 Mode changing

I have read about a solution on this forum, to the issue below but I find the coding quite daunting. I believe there must be an easier solution and was hoping someone has figured it out.

Setup:

APM.a all dip switches down.

Hitec Eclipse7

standard acro setup with all defaults (everything inhibitted and no differential or mixing) except I had to reverse all servos.

Hitec 6 channel receiver.

channel 1 = ailerons (both)

channel 2 = elevator

channel 3 = throttle

channel 4 = rudder

channel 5 = to channel 8 on APM

radio test on APM shows channels 1-4 with good rangeson either side of 1500.

modes shows position0 and position5 active.

position0 = manual. perfect all controls are fine.

position5 = stabilize. see the story below.***

GPS  blue light, 7 sats.

Originally I was using an old radio config for a 3D plane but had dipswitch4 up for elevon-mixing (thats how the APM came). The stabilize was actually working albeit with mixing.

I changed the dipswitch and a few other things (dupe) including a brand new radio config. After these changes, I now how have this situation:

For a short time, gear switch forward gave me half throttle with no radio control of anything or any servo movement for stab.

Now I don't even get half throttle; Gear forward position in essence takes away radio control and does nothing..

I have not touched APM software or pids, just used setup menu in APM and messed with Hitec radio programming.

Please post a simple solution for just two modes. Six would be great but two would get me out in the field.

I'm not sure I follow your story, but you need to switch your modes around so that manual is on 5 and stabilize is on 0.  The reason is that if you are using channel 8 for mode, then the hardware multiplexor is in the circuit and position 5 will be manual via hardware regardless of what mode you have assigned to it in software.
