Would it be possible to program a flight controller to limit all the accelerations of a car so that all the cars would have the same ability?

Say car A can turn corners at 1.1 G

Say car B can turn corners at 1.0 G

Can I program a controller to limit both cars to only be able to turn at .9 G

The intent is to even out any "mechanical" advantage in RC car racing.

Thoughts?

  • No progress, just a thought experiment right now.

What I would like to accomplish is a racing class that anybody can compete in for cheap. Oddly this is focused more on the "stock" type classes as they are more driver friendly but not wallet friendly. A "stock" motor in 1/10 sedan might be a 21.5 turn 540 ROAR approved motor, but there can be significant differences in power. Batteries the same, new batteries are better than old. Same with tires.

So the idea would be that the FC limits all cars to roughly what the slower car can do. So your driving is the limit, not your wallet.

  • Any update on this? I was thinking of the same concept for the truck RC cars. The best idea I think is even out all the components like tires, wheels, suspension, etc. The same on our identical Ford Superduty but one with blue ox towing installed on it.
