How to set failsafe to RTL if radio link is lost?

I'm setting up a 3DR arducopter with 2.0.46 and using a 6 ch rx and have two types failsafes I can set. The one that I think I should use is the type of binding that saves the setting of each channel and if signal is lost then it goes to those positions. One of those positions should be the switch setting that brings it home in case of trouble.

I know how to set it up this way and know how to do the binding so that happens but is that the normal way to do it or is there something else built in the software the does RTL automatically when signal is lost? I know in Arducopter 1.0x I had a problem with what I think was the receiver reception and it would just drop out of the sky a couple of times. I'm hoping with 2.0.46 I can utilize RTL in that situation.

How is the correct way to set it up. I looked in the wiki but didn't see anything about it.

  • The best and most reliable sollution, I think, is to save failsafe parametres into receiver. Switch to that flight mode, which you'd like to have as failsafe (for ex. AUTO or RTL) and store it.

Wondering the same thing here.... My question is essentially what are some of the community users' fail safe setups?
