Hello
I am an environmental scientist and I am very interested in applying a drone to getting an above-canopy view for quantifying energy fluxes in forests. Unfortunately I have no experience with drones, or RC vehicles at all. I've seen comments on here regarding how the “3DR ArduCopter Hexa-C Almost Ready-to-Fly” is actually not very ready to fly. How much should I expect to have to do to get it running in a way where I can put in a simple course going to a single way point and returning? Am I asking too much given my total lack of experience (and understanding of a lot of the vocabulary used on this site)? Are there additional services available to go from being “almost ready to fly” to being truly ready to fly? Cost is not particularly restrictive if I can end up with an easy solution that can do exactly what I need.

My big quad handles muck like a micro 4 channel fixed pitch helicopter. Anywho perhaps some of the other members will be able to assist with the hexa. Unfortunately I have never flown one. My quad flies fine with 1.5 kilo of all up weight.
